Traditional Dreadnought Model Guitars

B-R1

This is THE Bluegrass dreadnought! Made of the finest Adirondack (Red) spruce, with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, as was traditional in the pre-war dreadnoughts that have become so sought after. This combination results in the brightest, cleanest treble and midrange, yet still has that deep, deep bass that only comes with the dense, heavy Rosewoods.

My BR/1 model differs from the norm, in that I use a Rosewood fretboard, and a small, Brazilian Rosewood bridge, along with a long, through-saddle of dense cattle bone, and un-slotted bridge pins of either ebony or bone. Combined with my unique top bracing, the results are a louder, brighter guitar, with far more overtones than is usual for this type of instrument.

Few woods can match the natural beauty of Brazilian Rosewood. This beauty, combined with it's wonderful tone, has long driven the huge demand for this wood,  to the point that today, it's nearly extinct.
One of the best examples of this fine, fine wood.

BR-SE-1

The BR/SE series is built to the same specifications as the BR/1, but substituting South East Asian Rosewood for the back and sides, instead of the rare and expensive Brazilian Rosewood.

This combination results in an instrument that really does mirror the tone and power of the BR/1, but in a much more affordable package, and without the problems associated with the use of a CITES listed endangered species.

You can expect this to be one of the loudest, yet sweetest guitars at any gathering of fine instruments.

While not looking exactly like Brazilian RW, South East Asian Rosewood does have it's own beauty, with colors that range from light brown/red, to dark brick red/dark brown. The grain patterns often resemble Brazilian RW, but without the ink black lines.

South East Asian Rosewood is also sometimes available with spectacular amounts of white sapwood. This does not affect the tone or structurally weaken the instrument, but can provide a wonderful distraction from the norm.

All guitars come with either Waverly or Schaller (Optional Gold Schaller's pictured) machines. All fingerboards are bound in either a contrasting colored binding (usually white or ivoroid plastic or maple, if wood bindings are used), or, if an unbound look is desired, I can bind the fretboard in a matching wood.

DA-1

This is the one that has been dubbed a 'banjo killer' by a few of it's proud owners.

Made of East Indian Rosewood and Red spruce, and again featuring my unique carbon fiber/spruce bracing, the results are a guitar with a bright, clear tone; much brighter than what is often expected of this combination, yet the bass is always there, and goes plenty deep. This is a guitar that will not have you running for new strings every few days; it's tone lasts and lasts, even with less than fresh strings

DA-3

Pretty well a DA/1, but with a three piece back. Traditionally, a three piece back is thought of as being bass heavy, often too much so for lead work, but these are thankfully an exception to that rule.

You can expect this guitar to work just as well in a flatpicking lead role, as it does in a strictly rhythm role.

The three piece back lends a different look for those seeking something apart from the crowd, and when combined with my standard 'In 'n Out' backstrips, it makes for interesting diversion.
Often overlooked as being too common, East Indian Rosewood never fails to please the eye with it's wonderfully rich colors and straight grain.
